چکیده

A time-variability study of the neutral iron line flux at 6.40 keV in the Sgr B2 region from data of Suzaku and Chandra is presented. The highly ionized iron line at 6.68 keV is due to Galactic Center Diffuse X-rays (GCDX), and is thus time invariable. By comparing the 6.68 keV and 6.40 keV line fluxes, we found that the 6.40 keV flux from the Sgr B2 complex region is time variable; particularly the giant molecular cloud M 0.66−0.02, known as “Sgr B2 cloud” is highly variable. The variability of the 6.40 keV line in intensity and spatial distribution strongly supports the scenario that the molecular clouds in the Sgr B2 region are X-ray Reflection Nebulae irradiated by the Galactic Center (GC) black hole Sgr A.

A New X-Ray Flare from the Galactic Nucleus Detected with the XMM-Newton Photon Imaging Cameras

Sgr A, the compact radio source, believed to be the counterpart of the massive black hole at the galactic nucleus, was observed to undergo rapid and intense flaring activity in X-rays with Chandra in October 2000. We report here the detection with XMM-Newton EPIC cameras of the early phase of a similar X-ray flare from this source, which occurred on September 4, 2001. The source 2-10 keV lumino...

A Rapid X-ray Flare in the Radio-loud Narrow Line Quasar Pks 0558-504

We report the detection of a very short time scale flare in the radio-loud narrow line quasars PKS 0558-504 by using ASCA. The X-ray count rates increased and decreased by a factor of two in 33 minutes, and possibly by 40% in as short as two minutes during this flare, confirming that such flare event does occur in this object with imaging detectors. The implied largest rate of change in luminos...

Electron Acceleration around the Supermassive Black Hole at the Galactic Center

The recent detection of variable infrared emission from Sagittarius A*, combined with its previously observed flare activity in X-rays, provides compelling evidence that at least a portion of this object’s emission is produced by nonthermal electrons. We show here that acceleration of electrons by plasma wave turbulence in hot gases near the black hole’s event horizon can account both for Sagit...

Iron lines from transient and persisting hot spots on AGN accretion disks

Aims. We model the X-ray reprocessing from a strong co-rotating flare above an accretion disk in active galactic nuclei. By performing detailed radiative transfer computations we explore the horizontal structure and evolution of the underlying hot spot. The main goal is to study how the resulting spectral features manifest themselves in short exposure time spectra. Methods. We analyze both the ...

X-ray Flares and Oscillations from the Black Hole Candidate X-ray Transient Xte J1650–500 at Low Luminosity

We report on X-ray observations made with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer of the black hole candidate (BHC) transient XTE J1650–500 at the end of its first, and currently only, outburst. By monitoring the source at low luminosities over several months, we found 6 bright ∼100 s X-ray flares and long time scale oscillations of the X-ray flux. The oscillations are aperiodic with a characteristic t...
